Filter question.

I'm going to start a side project in a 5 gallon tank, I'm looking for some help if any one can.

I'm going to be using a 5 Gal for some shrimp and a betta I just want to know as a sponge filter I plan on using this. http://www.amazon.com/Aquarium-Bioch...=Sponge+filter

I'm using a sponge filter for the first time I just want to know if that would be okay for a 5 gal and do you fully submerge a sponge filter? Like the outflow and everything? Or do I keep some of it out the top of the water level.

A lot of people suggest that filter, it also looks really neat.
You have to fully submerge the sponge filter, you would also need to have an aerator, airline tubing, and possibly a T valve. There is no input or outflow, the aerator pumps in oxygen and the sponges release the oxygen into more tiny bubbles. Learn more about sponge filters here.
