I have two betta fish, Bill(a regular betta) and Ted(a crown tail). Bill is very aggressive and puffs up if he even catches sight of Ted. They are an alarm clock space apart. My question is whether they should be that close or on different surfaces altogethor?? Also what type of floor covering is best, colored "betta rocks" as the pet store calls it or sand? Aby advice would be helpful

Gravel is fine.

How big are these tanks? What is in them (plants, caves, etc)? Equipment?

you would probably be better off with gravel. ive tried sand before and its a pain to clean, and it gets everywhere.
