New to Bettas

My boyfriend and I recently bought two Betta fish. We bought two, 3/4 gal tanks. Due to space issues (dorm room) we can't get bigger tanks at the moment (although they are much bigger than some areas i've seen bettas in on campus), but will be moving into an apartment in a month or so when we can have more room for the fish.

What can I do to help keep them healthy and happy in the smaller tanks until bigger ones can be had? I'm going to get some of the alternative foods like the worms and shrimp, but what else will help out? I've had fish before so I know about basic care and water temp and stuff, but I've never had bettas, so I was wondering if there's anything specific for the species.

Find a small internal filter. Just keep up on small water changes and he'll be happy until the bigger tank gets set up.

The water temp needs to be constant. They need warm water...74-78 I think. Someone will be by to correct me if I'm wrong.

Good food, clean and warm water and the'll be happy as clams, well, happy as happy betts! :D

They aren't seeming to like the tetra bettamin flakes, that or they're just not eating much. Should I try the pellets?

usally bettas will not eat flakes. ive only seen one betta do this.
pellets will be good (3 pellets twice a day each fish should do it). maybe some worms/shrimp even thawed shelled peas once in a while to avoid constipation and keep them regular. :)

and SST is right, the temp should always be around 78 degrees.

One of them is devouring the pellets...the other one isn't eating....thoughts?

Bettas- picky, picky, picky! it could be the brand that one likes and the other doesnt. when i had that problem with a betta i tried a bunch of different brands until i got the one he likes.

Then when that one died, i just fed the new one nothing but frozen bloodworms, brineshrimp, and peas bcuz i read they're carnivours- all bettas like fresh meat.
