Does anyone use this heater? I thought it would fit perfectly in the hole in the new tank

those are very very very unsafe they were the first type of hearter to be made by aquaorst and can cause fires do not use it the therostas and crapy and will boil ur fish buy a moder day one not this its complte crap

My current tank has a fairly expensive heater and I just don't have the money for another right now ... I would like to spend $15 or less

I used the Elite heater for almost a year before I decided to upgrade to a fully submersible one, and in all honesty, it worked very well. It held the temperature stable at all times (and I checked at least twice a day, every day), but I needed to top the tank off rather often to keep it at the minimum water line.

Keep in mind though, it seems like I got one of the somewhat rare good units of this model. I'd probably go with a heater that has more consistent positive reviews.

You could look into the Hydor Theo heaters - they are a little bit outside of your price range, but they are considered by many to be extremely reliable and are pretty inexpensive as far as heaters go.

I found a hagen elite new model that has a 4.5 star review :) I will probably go with that ... I have a while before I order one so I will be researching

Ell- I actually just ordered that Aquatop 50watt. My total bill with shipping was $15.22, I like to look at reviews. Of course there will be some duds. I seen the other higher watt models and they are rated pretty well.

If you don't mind waiting a bit for shipping, I can't remember who it was who posted it, but there was a super-cheap submersible adjustable heater on eBay that was apparently great.

Sorry I can't be more helpful, it was a post I saw in passing a little while ago... >.<

I would go for the Aquatop one, I've heard very good things about them. The Deep Blue 60 watt is not adjustable & the Jardin one is 220v, you will need an adapter to use it in the US.
