Is she a he?

I hope this is the right forum for this question.
Upon closer inspection of this fish that we call "Missy" I noticed no little white egg spot. I was watching her last night and she was flaring at my white/pink male and I thought Hmmm, was "she" mislabeled?

"She" is definatly a male. He has long ventrals and long fins. Also, although it is not a reliable method, he has a big beard and he was flaring.

Thank you everyone for your responses. When I first brought him home he was fairly young and has blossomed into a pretty pink fish. lol
I had him next to my HM girl Korie for quite a while. I sure hope she doesn't become egg bound by my ignorance! I have since put a visual divider up. Eeek!

dont fret this is a COMMON occurance with my lfs ive had this happen like 10 times and 9/10 its a red/blue baby.
My Grover II was sold as a girl....yeh no lol

my fs is good if i get home n discover she is a he i always can return and swap, but it just gets put back in the girl community though. so someone else ends up with him as a her. I spent 25-30 minutes after the girls were released from their new order, netting my own girls making sure they had egg spots.

Not all females show white ovipositors. And some males show them. o.o Just FYI.

And the thing on the beards, I know you said it was unreliable but I just wanted to give an example. My girl Mystique had the same length beard of a male Plakat lol, When she flared I almost thought she was a boy! But she is definitely a she and your she is a very beautiful young he! You'll have to start calling him Mister lol

Mister Missy is what I've been calling him. lol Oh well. He doesn't care what I call him as long as I feed him. :P
