King Betta Breeding Questions

hey guys so I am going to get a nice pair of King bettas full grow there nice quality an I ha a cople of questions all the temps tank size an stuff like that is it the same second when i need to jar the males will my 1 quart jars fine? thanks

Temp and breeding setting are the same. I've bred them in 5-50g tanks. But grow out must be bigger. Jars must be bigger too, the bigger the better. Otherwise they won't grow fast enough. You need to grow them specially during their first 4 months. After that their growth reduces greatly.

No.. 1 quart will not be near big enough.. that's 32 ounces/ .25g, what I have for young juvies for regular splendens.. and even then they should go into bigger containers after a bit. You're going to be looking for is at least .75g, and then onto something larger even.

you might just wanna stock up on clear gallon jugs (can be found in the hume section of most stores, for canning and preserving). remember, even with a pure king/giant line, you'll have giants and you'll have some normal sized babies. by the time they start to need separation, you'll be able to tell the difference, and know which containers to use.

IME 1g is not big enough to boost their growth. You need at least 2g. Many locals use 5g buckets as solitary grow outs.

Though seriously you'll never find a quality pair of kings. Kings themselves look to be either old or just smaller giants. Easier to just buy a pair of giants. You'll need much larger tanks though.

i figured the OP meant giants seeing as i've never seen a female king betta (queen betta?)

Definitely giants are the way to go over Kings.. those are just Petco fish. Giants can be a bit pricey to get if you want anything halfway decent.
