can you breed any female with any species of male betta or is the like a crowntail feamle and so on? or can you just breed a female with any species of male

You can breed any type of B. splendens betta to any other - they're all the same species, just with different fin types.

yes, they are the same species. some of the new fin types of the betta came from crossing different tail types. try it, you might even produce your own unique line ;)
