You can use a 5 gallon bucket to wash the sand. Fill about 1/2 with sand then use a garden hose with a high power nozzle to fill with water. Swirl the sand with your hand and dump off the dirty water. Repeat until the water runs clear. Takes awhile but worth it in the end.
