Shimmery patches on my betta's face

My betta used to me solid red all over. The last week or so however he has started to get white around his face. I assume that's just marbling, the scales look normal, just a different color, and his behavior hasn't changed.

In the middle of the white, there is a shimmery green/yellow patch on both sides of the head. There is a similar material in the bottom of his eye. When I shine a light on him, many of his upper scales have a dot of the same color "stuff". I have no idea what this is, doesn't match the description of any of the diseases I read about. Help :(

Hey there,

Is there any chance of you posting a picture of your betta so I could better understand what you mean. The only disease this sounds remotely like to me is Velvet but lets not jump to any conclusions until we know for sure

Unfortunately a ham sandwich is a more functional camera than the one on my phone :(

Oh dear and you do not have access to another camera? When you shine the light on him does he appear to have fine gold dust sprinkled over him? Are his fins clamper or split at all? Does he ever dart around or rub against objects, does he breath quickly or appear to be gasping?
