Exclamation HUGE TANK LID WARNING - Aqua-Tech

I'm going to make this short. I bought a 5.5G Aqua-tech starter kit. The type with the net, heater, filter, light-in-lid, etc. The lid with the build in light almost started a fire in my house. Not only was the light burnt out, but they put a double-ended light holder in a one light slot. On top of that, the cord was knotted behind a plastic protector that I unscrewed to look at (I could see it knotted through the protector).
The light was off but plugged in before I started my investigation. I lifted the lid and a huge spark went off. I just don't want this to happen to anyone else.

Everything else works fine. Be wary of the tank lid, though.

Aquatech is Marineland and I went through 2 of their lids before giving up (topfin/Petsmart). The original one burned out within a 2 week time span (used with a timer) and the second one busted the copper piece that the lightbulb touches. It burned out and when I went to check a different bulb it fell apart on me. I'm not He-Man here..

I ended up with a Versa Top (the marineland one though the AGA one won't fit) and a light strip. The light strip had the light on the right hand side. My husband and I moved it to the center (cutting and rewiring took like 2 minutes) and put a small screw up through the reflector and poof.. new light :) - A desk lamp would work too, I just have my tank on a very small shelf and can't fit anything next to it.

I was just worried about the fire hazard. I just don't want anyone's house burning down because of some company's faulty merchandise. >:(
