I was bickering with my fiancé on how I didn't think Copernicus had grown much in the *almost* one month since we rescued him, so I decided to compare pictures of him side by side...and boy was I wrong! still not too sure what his tail type is yet...you guys still think he's veiltail?
side note: he has made me TWO bubble nests already! although, I had to change his water today and the bubble nest is now no more. also...he is not a fan of flaring. I've got him to do it once...he hates his reflection, apparently.
wow! Looking Good, Mr. Coperny! your top pic looks liek my Charlie, Im so excited to see more growth! Im not sure on his tail, it looks really round to me
It's cute to see how mature he's gotten! Although, when I look at him in his huge 5 gal tank, he still looks like a squirt! Yeah, I'm really curious to see what he turns out to be. If he's a veiltail, no worries, because I know he will be much prettier than the ones sold in stores. His dorsal and anal fin seem to be growing more than his caudal, and when he stops swimming, he likes to puff out his caudal fin, making him look like a round tail. He confuses me! Haha. :]
He definitely looks like a veiltail to me. Young VT boys usually have round tails. He looks just like my baby boy, Ood! Ood is still really small, but has quite an appetite.
Thanks, all! I think he's pretty great, but then again I am biased. :]
You know, I've been wondering if its only my betta, but maybe you guys can help? I've tried to get Copernicus to flare, and he's only done it like 2 times now. Once, when I put a spoon in to block him from entering the filter hole when I was cleaning it (forgot spoons were shiny apparently haha) and I've gotten him with a mirror. Every other time he notices the reflection and swims up next to it, but then clamps his fins and swims off. What does this mean? Any of yours do this? Could he still be too young?
Our fish have the same name, my new HMPK is named Copernicus.
Your little boy has gotten big and beautiful. I still look at Phoenix and it's hard to imagine Nix came home as a little grey squirt and is this big beautiful bi-colored girl now.
Lady, Copernicus is a great name! My fiancé is a scientist and I wanted him to have some sort of an epic name, so it came down to Copernicus for a boy or Tesla for a girl. :]
My snail is named Nikola Tesla. I am big into science as well, all my new fish will be named after them. Also Literature as my other snail is named Sherlock Holmes and my frog is named after a character from the LotR series. Next male fish will be Galileo or Aristotle.
