Baby is a Male or Female?

Day brought home.

During feeding time.

6 and a half weeks of growing since the first pic...

So, guys and gals, male or female?

I want to say female but the ventrals are very long for such a young fish so good possibility it's male. time will tell.

I want to say female as well, I see the egg spot and also ventrals look rather girly to me.

Definitely a female. You can see the egg spot between her ventral and anal fins. She's a cutie though!

Oh gosh! A girl!

I definitely see a spot under her. Is there any special care tips for a female rather than a male?

Some males get white spots too, so that isn't a definite tell-tale sign. And there are no differences in the way you care for a female vs a male.

I would like to say female, since she has more of a rounded belly than most males.

Look at the difference in shape between these two pictures. Both from the same spawn, 3 months old. You will probably have to wait to know for sure, as I have had some females become males xD And vice versa! Not the length of the anal fin, and thickness of the ventrals.

Usual ways to check: Beard, egg spot, ventral length, fin length (anal fin tends to be a lot longer, then the caudal, then the dorsal), body shape. Flaring won't be a good one to use, since all my females and males flare.
