breeding in a betta tank?

I need to start breeding guppies and shrimp as food for my ADF's ... can this be done in a 5 gallon with a Betta?

Or would I be better off buying a large critter keeper and putting a trio of each?

I do not want to overstock my Betta tank

You would be overstocked in anything under 10 gallons (and reall, 10 is too small) to breed in. Guppies generally have 10-30 fry in one drop, 33 (including the adult trio) that's way too many to have in anything under 10 for sure. Even as tiny fry.
