The AQ salt you can get from any petstore that caries fish supplies and the IAL you can order online for pretty cheap :)

For the AQ, I only ever use it if either my betta has something externally wrong (i.e fin rot, a cut/sore, ich) or if I'm doing something for him that's particularly stressful like adding new things to his tank, or changing his tank.

I think a bit of AQ salt would help, it will de-stress him and kill any nasties that might be living on him from the pet store(during your next water change, just mix it in and let it devolve before you put him in)

Also I would stay away from flakes for food, I've heard from some people that they can sometimes have fishbones in them and can cause bloating/constipation
