Aqueon is fine to use.. not horrible, but not top quality.

The temp is fine, but you can lower it a tad bit if you wish.. they are fine up into the mid 90s.. but generally I keep mine anywhere from 76 - 84.

oh, okay...I will look into another food then...any suggestions on other food? I read you should switch it up so they won't get bored, and give them frozen or dried food like brine shrimp...any suggestions on those?

You can also feed frozen foods like bloodworms, brine shrimp or daphnia. I also feed mine 3 different brands of pellets.nOmega one, Aqueon and New Life Spectrum.

It took one of my betta 1 week before he ate anything. I just tried feeding him everyday and one day he took 1 pellet. Now he eats his 5 a day without hesitation. Patience is the key here and he will eat soon enough. Remember 1 pellet at a time

I think Nothingness was saying it took their betta a while to eat their first pellet, which was only one.. now it eats 5 :)
3-5 pellets per meal twice a day is a good amount to feed :)

dramaqueen is right on the frozen, it's good for them every so often as it has lots of protein :)

New Life Spectrum and Omega One Betta Buffet are also real good to feed them, pellet wise.

I would just stay away from freeze dried all together - give them their protein boost through frozen. But it's up to you and what your fish likes.. most of mine won't even look at freeze dried foods heh.

It sounds like you are.. I wouldn't worry about it too much - he has a nice, big, clean, warm home and good food.. much better than many other bettas out there :)

I am a relatively new fish owner myself. When I first got Pontus, my betta, he acted a bit strangely and didn't eat. I kept trying to feed him and he adjusted very quickly. I also was feeding him the Aqueon and I just recently switched over to New Life Spectrum. I really like this new food, he seems to be more active and energetic. Your little guy should be fine once he has time to adjust.
