Thermometer Obsession?

My betta, Mr. Fish has been exhibiting some weird behaviors now that I got him a new, submersible thermometer.

Whenever it's in the main chamber of his tank, he only ever swims by it, flaring occasionally at the black suction cup piece and the rest of the time swimming around it.

If I move it to where he cant see it, he freaks out, his fins clamp and he looks stressed beyond belief

I'm completely baffled about why he's doing this. Shouldnt he be relieved if the supposed threat of the "evil suction cup" is removed?

I recently put a small glass thermometer in one of my tanks and the male betta in the tank flares at the red part on the bottom. He just swims by it and flares. It's pretty funny.

Yup hahaha ,mine does that as well, my sister teased that he finally found a wife since he's so obsessed about it lol

My Boys both live to cuddle and even wedge themselves between it and hte side of the tank to sleep. Silly fish!
