Help my female betta hurt??

I have three female bettas in a twenty gallon tank. Occasionally they will bicker but usually they are fine. Tonight I noticed that one of my bettas has like these red marks on one side of her near or on her gills. They look like she has been cut and there is one on the other side as well... :( should I isolate her?

Pictures would be great. They could be fighting... Three females really isn't enough usually.

I have two girls and both of them have that coloring on their gills that darkened up when they regained their color from being in proper conditions. If they didn't have any color there before, then it could be something to worry about.

Red gills are a sign of ammonia poisoning.

However, if it's on the side it sounds like they are fighting.. This might be helpful: http://www.bettafish.com/showthread.php?t=29402

You need a weekly 25% change with siphon at minimum, and that's assuming it is fully cycled. Cyling takes up to 2 months and during that time you should be testing daily and doing extra 50% change any time you see either ammonia and/or nitrite.
