Fake bubble nest

So I just added a plant and heater to my tank. My little guys is alot happier now that the water is a couple degrees warmer. The plant is what im confused about.

Its a long leafed plastic plant, nothing sharp so it shoudn't hurt him however I put it by my airstone. The bubbles from the airstone hit the bottom of one of leaves making what looks like a bubblenest. He hasnt placed a single bubble however ever sense he saw it he has been spending most of his time by it. Any explanation for this behavior?

my guess would be its just bubbles from the areator.

real bubblenests are ontop of the water, and look like foamy masses

A male will take over another's bubble nest without a blink of the eye. If he was a prolific bubble nester prior, then he just assumed this leaf/bubbles is a new nest and will keep it that way... staying by it as if it were his own nest.

Or, he may just like his new decoration :)

Interestingly enough e destroyed it. Then proudly flared up and did a few laps around the tank before chilling out. He isn't bloated anymore. I'm overjoyed.
