How do you classify a Black Orchid color pattern?

I have a black fish with teal streaks in his fins and some irresdescence on his body. He is a young halfmoon from Petsmart. He was very stressed when I got him, so I've been keeping him in a 2.5 gallon tank to monitor him and I've been keeping it dark for a few days, so no pictures yet. I have another black fish that has some teal on it, but not full streaks on the tail. I don't want to incorrectly call my newest fish a Black Orchid if it is not one, but I'm not sure. :)

They sound like black orchids. The percentage of irid varies between individuals but they're still orchids.

So it doesn't matter if the bigger HM has full streaks on his tail? Like I said, he is a black fish with teal on him and he has one or two streaks in his tail. Based on the pictures, I'm positive that the newest one is a Black Orchid. I'm excited, black orchids are my favorite and I might have two of them! :)

Yup he's a black orchid for sure.

Black orchid technically is a black fish with blue/green irid on his fins and body. Not a show able color but definitely gorgeous, I have a BO CT pair right now, and just sent away my favorite BO last month

Thank you for confirming!!! I love love LOVE Black Orchids and now it seems that I may have two of them. Showable or not, I think they're gorgeous! It must have been hard to send away your favorite one. I'm not sure if I could send away any of mine! haha.

I heard they're allowed in section 6 in international shows. Here's mine, her name is Sheer. Her iri doesn't show quite well. salts

Aww Sheer is so cute! My other boy Dark Knight is the same way--his iri is hard to see except in certain light, so it is virtually impossible to get a good picture! He has a gorgeous spread of fins, but he ends up looking like a big black spot. Lol.
