Feeding: good quality pellets/flakes (I use omega one) 5 days a week, bloodworms 1 day a week, fasting 1 day a week

Lighting: lighting in unplanted tanks isn't super important, you just want to give your fish a day/night cycle. If they are in a room that is pretty dark, like a bedroom, you probably should give them around 10-12 hours of light a day. Ex: on at 6 AM, off at 6 PM. If the tank is in a well lit room, like a living room, then just turn the tank light on when you turn the room light off. Don't leave the tank light on at night.

This is what I use for my betta and it works well.

A good schedule would be to feed twice a day, morning and evening, and to leave to the lights on for 8-10 hours per day.

I feeding twice a day, morning and evening, six days a weeks, and one day for fasting. A treat takes place of a meal.

I do lighting of 10-12 hours a day. Lights on at 9am and off by 9pm at the latest :3

I feed mine a variety of pellet foods as well as live foods.
mine is usually fed once in the morning.
I also feed in the evening if I come home early and the lights are still on.
I change the water by directing water in and out at the same time, so I never take out the my betta for water changes...
lighrs are on 14 hours a day, with a 2 hour siesta (no lights) in the middle.

fasting means not feeding your fish.
