My betta Beau has been doing this for over an hour. He starts in front of his cave, goes all the way to the thermometer, swims to the top of the tank, goes back to the cave and does it all over again. I'm generally inclined to believe he's just being a goofball, but I wondered if there was a specific reason.
He's not flaring though, I have a mirror that I sit next to the tank every so often, he flares and goes nuts then. He's just kinda pushing himself along only using his tail.
A betta doesn't always flare when he thinks he sees another betta. He probably just keep catching glimpses of it and and swimming back and forth to check it out because he's curious. Or glass surfing because he's bored.
Looks like he might have a slight SBD problem with him floating up like that....
He also might be looking for a bit more space to stretch his fins in, his tank looks a little small, but I really cant tell since the video doesnt show the whole tank.
And he could definitely just be acting like a goober
Hmm, I didn't notice that, but watching the video again, I agree wth aemaki. He might have a problem with his swim bladder... Watch him carefully, does he look like he's struggling to stay on place?
I'll try fasting him for a few days and see what happens. He hasn't looked bloated, and I've been watching how much he eats carefully. (On a side note, does anyone else's betta attack their food? Beau lunges at it!)
