Bubble Nests

I have two questions.

When do males make a bubble nest and what does it look like, and

2. What does "flaring" look like?

A bubble nest is pretty much when they blow bubbles up to the surface like this:

To answer your other question, "When do males make bubble nests" from what I read Male bettas blow bubble nests when they are happy/healthy and ready to breed..
And from aqua001's links that pretty much puts the hammer on the nail.

Bubble nests are created for a few different reasons.. territorial, breeding, or a weather system coming through.. happiness is something we owners label it as - but since fish don't actually feel "happy", and they will build nests when half dead.. it tends to happen only with instinct :) But it's nice thinking they are happy and build nests to show it!
