Wow, lots of useful information! sounds like it would be good to have, if even only for the filling. Only because I feel like I stress my fish out when I dump water in. Even if I use something smaller, like a tupperware, instead of just dumping the bucket - it still creates a wave and my fish will be pushed slightly if he's around. It looks quite annoying! :) For vacuuming I will likely stick to what I have, or something similar if it decides to misbehave again!

When I refill using a bucket in my smaller tanks-I pour the water over my free hand to displace it so it doesn't disrupt the substrate or push the fish around.
When I refill in a fry tank-the first week or so-I use a siphon and gravity for a slow refill.
