Marimo Moss balls

Hello betta enthusiasts!
I have 2 aquariums, First: one betta alone, 5 gallon, heated, filtered
Second: one betta alone, 1 gallon, filtered, no heater yet (in the process of getting a heater)
My question is: What are all ya'lls 2 cents on marimo moss balls? How much can I have in my 5 gallon and my 1 gallon? Will this help me faster cycle my 2 tanks? (they are both a week old and brand new bettas) I really want to at some point replace my silk plants with real plants, but me being a novice fish owner I would like buy moss balls first Any other suggestions are very much appreciated! Well, you can have as many as you want, you could cover the tank ground with it if you want! They, IMO, don't need very high amounts of light but do need flipping over (mine did, anyway) to get light on all sides. I'm not very sure about cycling, though.
