Java Moss In a 2 gallon?

So I have my betta in a 2 gallon bowl and I added some java moss thinking it would be a good idea to both make the water better and make him happier. As soon as i put it in i had second thoughts and am starting to wonder if i should move it into my 5 gallon. At first he was just curious but then he started eating it. Is that a bad thing? Thanks!
