Persistent Constipation

My betta has really bad constipation and I am really worried. I tried fasting him for 4 days and then giving him a pea, but he wouldn't eat it. I also tried Daphnia, but he wouldn't eat that either. He's never been a voracious eater.

He's been constipated for about a week and this is the second round of constipation in about 3 weeks. I'm considering trying epsom salts, but I'd appreciate some guidance on the best way to do this.

Have you tried epsom salt?

1 tbs dissolved per 5 gallons. Acclimate him slowly. Daily water changes, don't exceed 10 days on treatment. It doesn't usually take long for the little guy to clear his system.

Epsom salts really aren't a good answer if this is a frequent thing, I'd suggest maybe looking at his food. Maybe upgrade if possible. A poor quality betta chow may be to blame.

Epsom salt is 1 tsp per gallon, predissolved actually.. And there is no limit on days he can use it. I think you are thinking of aquarium salt, which is not the same thing. It also needs to be 100% pure magnesium sulfate with no dyes, perfumes or other additives of any kind. I get mine from CVS Pharmacy. You leave him in the salts 1-2 weeks and fast 3-7 days until you see a lot of poop and his bloat goes away

More info is needed since this is ongoing:
