Click on the links I provide. The other link is a step by step HOW TO TEST on You Tube.....You have to have it. Or change your water every other day. No other way around this. You must test the water. Or you end up with dead fish.

1. Change your water every other day with clean dechlorinated water.
2. Ammonia is a poison that kills fish. No amount of salt will get rid of ammonia so water changes are a must.
3. A salt dose for .5 gallons is .5 teaspoons
4. .5 gallons is definitely not enough to house a betta in. It invites fin rot and other diseases, it also barely gives your fish any room to swim. Get something that is at least 1+ gallons.
5. Water must be a constant 76-80 degrees, get a 25-50 watt aquarium heater.

Then you buy one, you can get cheap ones from places like ebay or a petstore.

Your betta will not get better unless you are willing to put in the time and effort to consider the advice other people have given you and educating yourself on the basic needs of the animal.
