I rescaped my 29 gallon into a NPT wannabe. It has the dirt and some lucky bamboo growing out of the top. Currently I have 1 female betta and intend to add 4 more. Also in that tank are 2 Neon Tetras, was seven but 5 have went poof for some reason. I WILL get 5 more Neons. But even then, the tank will feel baren... I would like to add more plants but I want to know what types of fish are going in there before I do this so that I can get plants catered to their desires. Any ideas???
Ooooh, I do like rasboras. And these tetras are well more than used to warmer waters! I had asked the store I got them from what temps the tetras needed( they are an actually good store whom train the employees in the art of fish keeping for almost a year before letting them into the store!)... My answere was 79*F and I keep my tanks at a steady 80*F.
Cory cats are fun too, they are so cute and I even see them blinking in my teachers tank. One eye at a time so they look like they wink at you. SOOOO cute.
Are cories compatable with dirt in the tanks? I am makeing it a NPT... I was going to put the walmart brand lillies in the tank (2-4 plants). Then a little amazon swords in there so as to give it a little more plantlife. I will also add morrimo moss to the tank for the betta to snack on.
Cories are fine one that. EVen better if you layer the dirt with an inch of sand which won't effect the plants and cories love sand. If you want cories, I'd do a school of 7 Peppered or Pandas.
If you want to add cories, I'd stock your tank like this:
-5 bettas
-10 Neon Tetras
-7 cories
I have bettas and tetras together. 9 betta girlies and 11 neon and glowline tetras, tank is kept at 78 degrees. A few tetras didn't make it past their first weekend, but the ones that did have grown noticeably! They all hang out as one school even though they are different types. The biggest will now steal betta pellets if my bettas are slow to snag 'em. The bettas return the favor by hoovering up any micro pellets that don't immediately sink.
