He was at one of the lfs and I had to have him as normally all I see is the normal red or blue ones.

I'll have to try and get a better pic of him flaring with he dark purple gills

Thanks its a bit different to my oscar setup lol.

He's already my favorite as I can feed him from my fingers which is a nice change from the oscars trying to eat them lol

first betta, and you already know how to do a divided, live plant setup? and we don't have to tell you that you NEED a heater? daaaaaaaamn, you've got a leg up on most new owners!

Lol that did make me chuckle, ive got a few tanks so know the basics but there all on a much larger scale so when I saw him I thought id give keeping the little guys a go.

those dracenias are only semi-aquatic though. you might want to take them out and let them grow a few inches in a pot, then re-plant them once they're tall enough for their leaves to come out of the water.
