only if you plant heavily and the tank cycled :)
let's see a picture of your set up...

shrimps are fragile and expensive, and sometimes makes. gourmet betta snack. your water will need to be pristine...

snails are reknowned poop machines...

make aure your tank can handle a living morsel of betta delicacy or a armoured poop generator...choose wisely ;)

do you have a filter? you really should have the tank look semi jungle before you add a shrimp :3
let the plants grow out...

your betta may or may not be aggressive, you wont know until you add a shrimp...

make sure that the water has no ammonia nitrite and nitrate when adding shrimp.

Are the tannins from the driftwood or did you add leaves?

The tannins are from the driftwood and are being removed through water changes, i have a hang on the back filter its in the photo and it has a yellow sponge in it to slow the intake, i tested the water today and it has no ammonia, no nitrite and very little nitrate since i did a water change today

aight... then I will try a shrimp...
your best bet is an amano..
or a very large mama neo shrimp
but do note that with so little hiding places, they wont have much of a chance if the betta decides it wants to try its hand at hunting :P
not sure how much those go for in australia..

Oh thanks ill take your advice and wait for my plants to spread a bit and for it to become a bit more jungle like.. there are also spots in the driftwood for the shrimp to hide so i think in a little while ill be able to introduce one into the tank with less problems... hopefully

I'd add many more plants and make the tank look like a jungle. Also, I saw that your tank is 74 degrees. It needs to be at least 78 degrees, 80 is better IMO. Add a heater!

I'd try cheap ghost shrimp first to see if your betta is compatible with shrimp.
