Wow you guys I didn't know spade tails were so rare, the container I bought him said female so I guess I got a deal! I'll putting him in his own tank immediatly.

Oh my gosh his tail is SOOO gorgeous. I haven't been all that fond of them until I saw your boy. Where did you pick him up at?

I got him at Petco and his container said female so he must have been young.I never even knew about spade tails.

He's a keeper. Spade tails are extremely hard to come by. My boyfriend found one and paid $25 for him. I hope everything works out! I was confused about my betta too, but I was right that she's a female. She's just a very feisty plakat.

a spade tail is just a veiltail. 8I

he honestly looks like a young veiltail to me. if he was marked 'female' he was young enough to be confused with such. young veils often have tails like his.

(Though, I will agree with the majority here that she's definitely a HE, and a spade tail at that!)
