A few new snails

I know most people are on the fence about snails from Petsmart but I got some nice snails for free. The guy told me that if they are not Mystery Snails then they are supposed to get rid of them. My current count of snails is in my signature.

I picked up;
2 Blue Ramshorn
2 Brown Ramshorn
3 Malaysian Trumpet
2 Pond Snails but my betta killed and ate the smaller one in less than 24 hours

Give it a week with those things in your tank, and you'll lose count ... they reproduce fast! I've decided to let the snails overrun my shrimp tank, and then I'll toss a couple of assassin snails in there.

I have already cleared a few egg sacs off the glass. I am sure they will reproduce on me but it seems that if my betta can fit it in his mouth he will try and eat it. He has already taken out about 8 snails including one pond snail.

what is the safest and best method for adding calcium?

I never had hitchhikers on my plants until the last time I got plants about a month ago and now I have at least 2 ramshorns and at least one pond snail. They don't seem to be reproducing that fast. I've only seen the pond snail three times (It seems that it likes to stay in my filter), and the most number of ramshorns I've seen at once is 2. Maybe my bettas are eating them... The ramshorns are still really small, but the pond snail, who was the size of a sesame seed the first time I saw it is now the size of a pea.
Plus I have my two nerites, which I bought.

Break off a 2inch piece or so, boil for a few minutes, and drop it in. The snails will graze over it. They also sell it in the bird section of the pet store but make sure it is 100% cuttlebone.

You can feed them a slice of cucumber or zucchini. I think they both have calcium? I take a weight they put on plants and poke it through the cucumber and bend it around it so it will sink to the bottom. I also attach some fishing line to it so I can pull itout of the water easily

Thanks guys for the suggestions. With all the recent plants the snail have lots to eat. I counted at least 10 egg sacs on the wall of my tank this morning. Looks like I may be cleaning a few just to keep the population from growing too quickly.
