Exclamation Help!!! Brand new betta with.....

A weird growth on his neck area. I'm not sure what is going on. He seems to be ok for now. What could this be? I bought him for my little sister who has named him Bamf. She is already in love with him so really want to make sure he isn't going to die.

I don't know what's on your sisters fishes neck, but I think it's normal and won't cause any harm to your sister's betta. Unless it's white, then it may have ich. It's tail is a bit tattered, but if it's a crowntail then I think he'll be fine. He's probably shy and doesn't want to flare his tail yet. :) Good luck!

I really can't see anything. Is he just super stuffed?

You mean near his gills? That's just his beard, no need to worry. :D
His tail's good. He's a CT, (Crowntail) their fins are known to be spiky. I see that he looks like he's in a jar, how many gallons?

P.S. Not all white external problems lead to Ich. Ich is shown as small white dots on the fish's body. Other white/translucent external problems such as; fungal infection, stress coat shedding, etc.

Oh ok. He is in a 1 gallon for now. My sister is buying a tank next week so he won't be in there for long.

I think it looks like a stuffed belly...but it's kinda hard to tell

If it is, she might need better food, and/or a fasting day... Or three lol

Look at this link, if it is over feeding, it helps :)

Info about what a betta belly should look like, & all about food too, which is cool :)

And in the first pic, the very tips of his tail fins are kinda clear-ish looking.... *I'm pretty sure ~like 90%~ that that means his fins are growing*
