Betta tail. Will it come back to normal?

I am sorry for being a newbie but i have to ask.
(DAY 1)
I just bought a 10Gallon Tank w/ Filter
two bettas w/ plastic plants

at first one of the betta had a very nice tail as hours goes by the betta tail looks like its kind of ripped. but the thing is that they only fought once or twice and they really dont pick at each other tail or i can be wrong. they first where swimming around but then couple hours later one of the betta decided to lay near the ground for the rest of the night, while the other was swimming and eventually slept on the plant ( the betta that was swimming around didnt really go to the betta that was resting on the ground). When i woke up both betta was in the same position.

(DAY 2)
After i realize the bettas didnt move, i decided to look around and see what might be wrong, I eventually bought a HEATER for the tank and would assume that the water was just too cold. as i put in the heater the betta that was on the ground started to move more and moved near the heater.

the question is If the betta tail is damage ( by bitten or something else) will it go back to normal? or is it forever damage.

I will progress with the assumption that both bettas are female.

Providing both are female and you tried to create a sorority, you will have some trouble establishing a peaceful sorority unless you remove both females, buy 2 more, change everything around in the tank and add all 4 at once.

It is a general rule of thumb to have a sorority of no less than 4 female bettas.

In the meantime, since one is injured you will have to remove them anyway and set up heated hospital tanks (these can be small tanks floated in the heated 10g for the heat) and treated with some aq salt.

eta- the tail will regrow with clean water.

+++UPDATE+++

Yes i put those things onto the water to make sure the water is good for the fishes. Here are the pictures. The Pink Looking on is the one that had a good tail and now doesnt. The red one was like that when i bought it. I am new to this. Sorry for the late response.

Hmm.. they seem to both be males.... Them fighting isn't very healthy for the fish. Although they have a lot of space, they probably still fight and the other betta fish attacked and ripped the tail of the yellow one. Males can't live together, as far as I'm aware, and if anything should be separated. You should probably get a divider since males are very territorial and will fight no matter what. Good luck :)

Males are colorful with long flowy fins while females are dull in appearance with short fins.
