I would say definitely a crowntail.

Crowntail, for sure. If by twintail, you mean double tail? I'd say no, but understand why you would think so because of the gap in the middle. Still a no, definitely a crowntail. With gorgeous colors. ;P

Crowntail. Probably a little younger than the one in my avatar.

he could possibly be a combtail (CTxVT mix) since his ray reduction is somewhat minimal. he's definitely not a DT though, the split isn't deep enough, and he doesn't have the telltale extra-wide dorsal.

thanks for the input everyone. and yes i meant doubletail when i said twintail. im still pretty new to identifying all the different types. this fish was a "centerpiece" in a small bowl at a party i went to. really unhappy fish in that bowl - just floated around all day. bought him a larger tank, live plant, filter, and heater and now he swims around all day and is super active. he is like night and day from being in a bowl to having some swimming room. thanks for the compliments on his colors too. if the light hits him just right the blues on him are like iridescent/metallic - really neat looking
