Oh wow! What great finds! $3 for both of those fantastic babies?!
:O

So happy to hear that they're doing well, and that they're some spunky characters.

you said "Lavender" is a guarding-type betta, you could name him Hâl-Tirith, it means "Watchful Fish" in Sindarin (Tolkien Elvish)

the duckweed eating could be what's easing their bloating, plant matter is known to sometimes assist with fish digestion. who knows, it may be a natural instinct that they're solving their own problem.

YAY low maintenance bettas!!! FINALLY.....kidding. It might be that I am trying to fast them and this is the bettas way of "flipping the bird" and saying "HAH yeah I'll eat when I WANT to...now obey me human. Then again I do have a fairly large imagination, chances are you are probably right and I need to find some way to supplement some extra fiber.

So ive never really known what duck weed was, ans i looked it up just now because you had small green plants floating in your tanks, and i assumed it was sduck weed because your girl was eating it and all, and uhm, i always thought that stuff was a weird algae O.o lol

Well the stuff can infest your tank like an algae but I found lots of surface movement does limit it's growth.

How about George? If s/he does turn out to still be a lady, you can call it Georgette.

Also, Harry or Harriet..

Just throwing around ideas...

the only problem with it is it has a propensity to completely CARPET the surface of your tank, which bocks light to any other plants you have in the tank. it's a very fast-growing, fast-reproducing plant that spreads like wildfire.
