1.25" hole?

Would it be comfortable for a male veiltail to swim through a circular hole that is 1.25" in diameter? That is about the size of a half dollar...

Sounds big enough to me since a hole the size of a regular quarter is considered safe.

My Betta swims through this size hole regularly. Just make sure there is nothing to snag his fins on while he is going through it. I just rub my finger around the edges and filed and sharp parts off.

I read another technique that sound interesting. Someone suggested pulling a set of nylon pantyhose through the hole and if the pantyhose snaged the Betta fins could snag. I haven't tried it but it sounds like it would work to me.

I've seen my halfmoon squeeze through holes much smaller than that. Including one decor that I was like...wow, really, you fit into that?
