Snails?

Hey everyone,I'm thinking about getting a snail for my 5 gallon.I know that several types of snails multiply really fast so I want to get one that doesn't.I did a bit of research and found that nerite snails would be a good choice but they need algae to feed on and my tank doesn't always have that much.Anyway I was wondering if you guys could tell me a few good snails.Thanks!

Get a nerite, they are awesome. You can feed them algae wafers, spinach leaves or slices of cucumber or zucchini .

I have a mystery & a nerite in my 5.5g tank, well actually have them in all of my tanks. I feed algae wafers once or twice a week & veggies at least once. You need to make sure they have a calcium source for their shell. I had difficulty finding the nerite locally, I didn't want to pay big bucks for shipping, I finally found a local supplier.

Okay I've never really had snails so what would the calcium source be?Sorry if that's a stupid question.:)

I think if you have high ph and hard water you won't need calcium, but I could be wrong on that. You can put cuttlebone in the tank for them to chew on or I have even heard of egg shell. Spinach leaves have high calcium.
