Male of Female?

Okay so I have gotten a 'female' from a chain store before. Well he was not a she :P

He she/he is...

These pictures are kind of bad, this was yesterday, the day that I bought him/her.

I was also looking at a thread, and she/he looks kind of like the female on this thread http://www.bettafish.com/showthread.php?t=98051

I got this girl a while back. She's swimming around by herself in my 20g until my other sorority girls get here. She was SUPER tiny when I got her. She's much larger now. She grew incredibly fast. They look quite alike!!! Probably same spawn. :P

That second pic was for scale. This is the tank it is. 2 gallons. Tiny little girl.

Are your girl's gills naturally red? I was wondering because the only reason she isn't loose in my tank because I wanted to make sure nothing is wrong with her gills :/

She also doesn't have a name :] I am going to think one up though.

Also is it normal for male VTs to have their tails kind of folded/clamped at the ends? Are VT tails structure that way? Maybe I will get a picture of my sisters male I got the same day as my girl...

My girl is a crowntail, so my girl isn't a very good example of the VT fins. It isn't so much that they clamp...they just come to a point at the end. Yes, my girl has rosy-like cheeks to her as well. Totally natural, so no worries there. Lol. She looks like she's smiling. She's so cute! xD

I don't know if you can see it very well in this pic, but VTs do come to a point. Your girl's tail definitely looks like it fits the bill. (:

I have this unnatural fascination with bettas.. So I bought 1 too many bettas, then went and got my "female" from my brothers tank. So until I can get them their own tanks, they are in my 10 gallon in a 3 way breeding trap.

Here is my "female" Opal...
just to let you know, when I got him he was a baby, so he did look like a girl, not any more!

Here is my 1 too many, he doesn't have a name.. But he will eventually!

Here is Dori my sisters male.

They are all VTs and what color do you think Opal is and Dori?
