New Betta Lover<3

Hello everyone! My name's Megan and I'm new to fish-keeping. I did a bit of it when I was a kid, but only in the sense that I would sprinkle a few flakes in a tank every now and then and the rest was left to my parents lol. I'm a huge animal lover, I have 3 cats, a Golden Retriever and two Bettas (Argos, DTHM and a blue one, same kind which I've only had for a few days and have not named yet).

I live in Ohio and actually work in a Petco, as a groomer but loving animals and working in a pet store puts you on a fast track to animal hoarding haha, especially with Bettas I think because we get such gorgeous ones and going through all the cute tanks and decorations makes you want to just keep buying more....

Anyway, I absolutely love this site and am so incredibly grateful for all the fantastic information the members share here. I don't know what I'd do without it, or rather what my fish would do without it...probably not be nearly as happy as they are. I am always happy to meet new people, especially ones which I have a hobby in common with so don't be shy to say hi !

Maybe as you learn more you will be able to teach the ones in the fish dept about proper betta care so they can help the customers better!

Thanks everyone! Yes I've actually already started applying some of my forum knowledge at work by educating a couple of the other employees about how we should encourage customers to steer clear of the "cutesy" itty bitty Betta cup/bowls Petco loves to display so prominently.

We have a new Petco just up the street and it is a big, beautiful store, with loads of aquarium supplies, fish, plants, etc. The employees have been real helpful when I go in and it is nice and clean. But... They have a huge display of teeny tiny betta tanks and supplies right with all the bettas. It drives me crazy when I am in there and overhear parents with their kids picking out a fish and all that tiny stuff. It makes me want to stop them and talk to them about the proper care of bettas.
