I have been promising photos of my new bettas for a while so please enjoy I should probably mention that the two bettas in the small jars are only in there temporarily until I get their new tank set up, until then they are getting daily 100% water changes and they are also heated because I put the jars inside a larger tank that is heated.
Anyway let me know what you think, I mean I know they are far from show quality but I loved the colours and I only keep them as pets anyway....
Oh thanks, he was in the pet shop for a couple of weeks and every time I saw him I liked him but he was breathing fast and I didn't want to risk the others in the barrack tank, in the end though I told myself that if he was still there when I went back I would buy him and he was so I did. He was really pale and not very colourful in the petshop but that has really improved now he is in his new tank
I can tell! You have done a really good job at bring him back. I'm glad we don't that nice of fish around me otherwise I wouldn't be able to help myself.
Oh he was one of the plainer bettas there, but I really liked the shape of his fins and now that he has colour again I quite like it, his fins were almost clear when I first got him and his body was very pale.....
A pet shop got sold and the new owner likes to specialise in fancy bettas, most of the ones that she gets are imported. I feel so lucky to have access to such beautiful bettas because before she took over there was only the odd fancy betta (maybe 1 or 2) a month in town. She gets orders of about 30 fancy bettas every two weeks and a huge variety, I have no idea how I am going to stop buying them once my tank is full......I am sooooooooo addicted
O.O he was one of the plainer ones?! Gosh I would kill just to find one like him! You are so lucky to have a LFS that close with so many fancy bettas! I don't have much of a choice unless I order one, which is never going to happen to this poor college student *sigh*. If you find any ones that you don't happen to have room for you can always send them my way ;)
I am afraid I live in Australia blueridge otherwise I would gladly send some of these bettas your way (not mine obviously) but the pet shop is full of beautiful bettas and it would be great to be able to send them to good homes, sometimes you wonder what happens to them............ I would buy them all if I could lol
O.O Australia is a long ways from me....
Yeah I understand. Our wal-mart here sells bettas, and other fish too, but the bettas always look good for the first week or two, when they come in, and then after that it's always down hill. Yesterday I saw a guy in there who had advance fin rot, it was already setting into his body, ick and the some type of white fungus, although it could have been his slime coat coming off. My room mate and I felt so bad for him, but I know we don't have the medications to fix him. We probably should have said something, but they never listen. Sometimes we wish we could just buy all of them as long as no others would be put back on the shelf in their spot, but that is never going to happen.
Yeah, well where I buy my bettas now they are cared for quite well but at the pet shop where I used to buy my bettas the same thing seemed to happen as it does at your Wal-mart. They come in healthy but the trouble is that they do not clean the bettas tank out until each fish is sold so in some cases the poor things are kept in around 1/8 of a gallon of water for a couple of months if they survive that long....... which they rarely do So basically if they are not sold they sit in their own filth until they die and then they are thrown away and the tank in cleaned before another betta takes it's place.
