Somewhat new

I haven't really introduced myself, but I have asked a few questions on the forums here. So I thought I would actually introduce myself!

I'm very new to fish keeping, but I try to do a lot of research. My betta is my first fish ever, and I've recently gotten about 6 cories. 4 albinos and 2 juliis(I hope to get more juliis, but last I went to get some they were out)

I live at college and study art which is very stressful which was more of a reason to get a fish as it keeps my stress levels down.

My betta's name is Dr.Bubbles, while the cories are unnamed, since I can't tell them apart D: . I was thinking of naming them by the group.

I tried to get a good picture while he was flaring, but we all know how hard that can be. He moves like crazy. But I do have my avatar as him too, when he's mellow.

the purple plant must be tearing his fins. if you get a nylon sock and rub it against that plant i am 99.9 it will get caught on it.

I did it against my tights, it didn't get caught :) It looks a lot rougher in the picture than it actually is, it's soft and the edges are very rounded.

Ah yeah, art majors are more stressful than people think.

He's an awesome little betta, didn't think I would love him so much. He's so smart too. Knows when it's feeding time, jumps for food, totally trusts me. I bet I could teach him a bunch of tricks if I had the patience and time.

Mine definitely surprised me with how quickly I became attached to the little guys. Bettas are smart, they catch on fast. You can find little training courses for sell online. Of course, you would have to have the time to train him... Which you probably won't have until after you graduate or later!

It's funny, I've always had dogs as pets. And yes, I'll admit I'd rather have a dog, but only cause I can hold and pet it. My betta is not far off as in entertaining me.

I would have gotten a soft cuddly pet, except dorms in college only allow fish. I'm glad the lady at petsmart talked me into getting a betta. I'm also happy I moved him from his 3/4 gallon to a 10gal. It's amazing how much personality they have if they just have more room lol.

Oh, I've always had dogs, too! I have a dog and a cat right now, and it's fun to see all of them interact. My cat loves to sit by Maui's tank and just watch him swim around. Maui seems to like the cat and will come right over and blow bubbles at her. It's definitely a bummer when you live somewhere that won't allow dogs. Good thing you are able to have a betta! They definitely are happier in the bigger tanks and you get to see so much more of who they are.
