Can fin rot be caused by anything besides poor water conditions?

I have a VT betta in a 5 gallon heavenly panted tank. I am injecting co2 using the EI dosing method with seachem products (will switch to DIY when they are gone) water peramiters:
Temp 77.4
PH 7-7.2
KH 8
Nitrogen 10 ppm
Ammonia and nitrites 0
Weekly 50% WC
Hope I have not forgot anything
I just noticed yesterday a few holes in my bettas tail fin, in a line almost. Today those holes are slits/splits. Tank mates 3 small SAE. The tank is a 5g fluval spec with a recently upgraded filter pump 200gph with spraybar pointed at the glass to difuse the current. Seachem purigon, biomax and poly fiber in filter with black sponge. I will post pics if I can get the big guy to hold still. Oh, and he is more agressive with the SAE and making big bubble nests. In some ways he seems happy (bubble nests) but there is something up (increased aggression and tail fin damage) I do not even know where to start to help my guy.
Tank you
Mia

To upload photos:
Click the "Go Advanced" button below the reply box.
Select the paperclip icon. It's on the top row of icons, 5th from the right.

Can you upload them to an album via your profile page?
At the top left, click UserCP
Click "Pictures and Albums" from the left menu
Add an album
Upload a picture

If that works, you can use the picture icon (it looks like mountains with a yellow sky) to link to where the photo's location.

They were hard to see but I really don't think that's fin rot. The holes/slits might be him biting it, the SAE biting it or getting stuck on a decoration.

Fin rot is characteristically black on the edges. Your fish just seems to have damage. If you can, remove the SAE. I hear they can be aggressive anyway.

Best way to do it to get a link to each photo and then when you want to embed it in your post click the little mountain with the sun in the options bar above, then just provide the link and it will do the work for you. c:
