Hello from South Bay Area, California

Hello all!

I feel like I can officially introduce myself since my Betta (who has yet to be named!) is in his 5.5 G tank. :)

I'm a school teacher in the South Bay (California) and teach 4th grade (Heaven help me!) ;)

I'm VERY new to owning an aquarium, let alone Bettas, so I'm happy to have found this place. So many people seem friendly and willing to help. Not all pet forums are like this (some are judgmental) so I'm glad to feel like I can come here and be a complete newb. :)

Anyway, enough about me... I'm sure some may want to see my new roommate:







I'm not sure if you can make out all his details, but if you could help me identify him, I'd be very grateful. I believe he's a veil tail? I may be wrong. :)

No, he's staying at home. If I'm successful with this one, I may consider NEXT school year getting one as a class pet...although transporting him home during the summer might prove difficult.

what tank size is he in? and those yellow plants might be too sharp for his fins. if a nylon sock gets stuck to it it is too sharp.

my teacher might let me get one for me to care for in the class. should i do that? (me and my teacher are kinda like best buds)

Hi Blu,

As I mentioned in the first post, it's a 5.5 gallon tank. :)

I carefully felt most of the plants at Petsmart, and these seemed the softest. I reckon if I see problems, I could take them out, but I do want some type of plants there.

If you are in south bay as in torrance area, I can give you a couple live anacharis that absorbs ammonia really well. LMK.
