Question Thinking about an Aquarium

I have a male betta who is at times aggressive and then also very shy. I want to get a 10 gallon tank and add a few more fish (Not bettas of course). I'm wondering what would be the best way to introduce him to the new tank and also what the heaters, filters and best tank mates would be.

I'm also thinking about leaving my male within his bowl and making a female community tank. Any ideas??

He is a Halfmoon Double Tail Plakat Male

I want to get a 10 gallon tank so it won't be too big but not tiny either.

What about heaters and filters?? Are those needed?
I was thinking about getting neon tetras but I read that bettas fight other brightly colored fish

I had tetras with betta but it didn't work so well. My betta was always stressed so I got the tetras their own tank. For that reason, I only recommend ADFS, shrimp, or snails. I suggest dividing it 2-3 ways and keeping a few bettas. A ten gallon is good for a sorority, but your current betta should not be in a bowl....

Over the past 5 years, my family has had about 6 bettas and we have never had issues with bowls. Its a 1 gallon bowl but like I said I'm thinking of getting a bigger tank for him. Does anyone know of a good a good filtration system to use and or a good heater?

I like aquaclear filters. For a ten gallon I sugget aquaclear 20. I have an elite heater. It works well, and it was cheap from amazon.
