Top Fin Curled

I just bought a betta on saturday. His top fin is curled over. He seems to be fine he swims around alot. I read somewhere that this is from being in that little bowl I bought him in. Is this true or is there something wrong with him? Also he likes to sleep next to the heater. Will he burn himself?
Sorry tried to take his picture but it didnt come out.

My VT is like that and has been that way since I got him as well. I've had him for over a year and he is still perfectly fine and happy. His other fins all look kind of clamped but that is also normal for him. His name is Curly just because of his fin

he could be too weak to lift that fin up. maybe his fin is deformed. is this normal?

I have heard that it can be caused by hard water. None of Curly's fins ever spread out so I think it is a deformity. But for Curly and possibly imlandys betta too it is normal. He is just not as flowy as other bettas but swims just fine.

my veil tail has a curled top fin too... he stretches it out when hes "floating", but the tips are always folded over... it kinda looks like they are bent.
Doesnt seem to bother him so im not worried

I know hard water can cause the the ends to curl on a Crowntails fins. If he is fine and every other way doesnt seem anything to worry about. My guy likes to sleep behind his heater up at the top of the tank but that part doesnt get hot. I think if its hot he will move away, Bettas are very smart.
