Wardley pellets are not the best. Try omega one or NLS. His tank is ok, but the water should probably be changed three times a week.

thank you VERY much for informing me about cycling. when i first got my 2 1/2 gallon, i thought i had to 'cycle' the tank. i filled the tank with luke warm tap water, added 16 drops of conditioner, then plugged in the filter. after about 24 hours, i put my male beta into his new tank. within just a few days (i think 3 or 4), i noticed that db wasn't his normal self. he was slowing down, even eating seemed o be more work for him. on day 5, he had died. the pet store (big al's) told me i should have cycled the tank for 5 days. i had db for 2 weeks. db, Dark Beta.
