Thank you all! Here's today's water test 3/4

I've purchased and installed the seachem ammonia alert as recommended, though it says up to four days for it to calibrate. Thanks for that recommendation. I can't do a water change today because of other obligations. Lol part of the reason I got this larger tank is due to busy family, so I could give the fish a better environment than a little tank. I know we'll get there from here but the obligations don't stop either! Doing the best I can..,

Uh, not four days. Don't know why I thought that. Thought I read that but now can't find it anywhere.

It only takes about 15 minutes to get a reading if there is ammonia present... it takes longer to read 0 after reading a positive (such as if you were switching between tanks). Off the top of my head I think it takes 4 hours but I can't be sure.

Sarah, so in a case like mine would you based water changes on the ammonia alert rather than the api water test reading? Mine seems to be working and levels seem fine.

Thanks so much for recommending this!!! I'm surprised I haven't read more about it here.

By the way four hours is right for a positive to come down. It does say it may take a few days to adjust totally at first (but not four lol)!!

15 min to read from zero start. I'm typing it so I remember it lol!!
