How do you know how old a betta is?

This is my betta, Nova. I got him from Petco a little over a week ago. I was wondering approximately how old he is. Any help is appreciated

The only sure fire way to know how old a fish is is to cut out its ear bones and count the rings... But I dont think you want to do that haha

Your guy looks pretty young and vital, probably 6 month or a bit over. Old fish have a droopy, dull look about them

Yup all animals have, they just don't have the external structure that gave mankind the inspiration for the radar (functions the same way more or less).

I have a small beta female and she's about one or two inches long. Her name is cookie. My 1 yr old daughter named her that. She's got red fins and a pale body. I change her bowl water about once a week and give her 3-4 pellets for breakfast and dinner. The last female beta I had died because she decided to jump out of her cup when I was washing out the bowl and I didn't know until it was too late so I'm hoping this cookie will behave. Do betas have to have plants to be happy or does it matter? I have some plastic rocks in there with her and Patrick from spongebob the show and she looks pretty happy. She gets excited when we come home during the day. How often do I clean her bowl? I clean it like two times a week because of the food fogging up the water.
