Anyone have thoughts on this to use in an uncycled filter-less, plantless tanks as in my temporary 1.5g Vase for Curious Grace? I plan on doing at least 75%WC daily. BTW CG has been trained to swim into her Petco cup, what a nice surprice =D.
Petco Zeolite Crystals for Fresh or Salt Water Aquariums
Eliminates odors & unsightly discolorations
Helps remove ammonia from aquariums
pH stable, phosphate-free
Great for use in sumps, canister filters and power filters
Directions: Rinse thoroughly before use. Use 1/4 cup (4 Tablespoons) of Petco Zeolite Crystals for every 10 gallons of aquarium water. When using an outside power filter, place desired amount in media bag and place in last position in outside filter (after carbon and filter fiber). When using an undergravel filter, place in media bag, on top of gravel. Replace every 2-3 weeks. For goldfish bowls, use 1 tablespoon per goldfish. Replace every 2-3 weeks as needed. Under normal conditions, replace Petco Zeolite Crystals every 2-3 weeks. However, various conditions may dictate more frequent changes.
"Great for use in sumps, canister filters and power filters" It has to be in an area where the water can flow thru it. It can be used like carbon in a HOB filter. Unfiltered vases should probably have a lot of active, growing plant matter to absorb the wastes of a fish. However with your wc regime your vase should be fine without having to at the Zeolite.
I wouldn't add it because I see no benefit to a tank that small. You're going to need to be doing 1 50% and 1 100% water change weekly in a 1.5g vase, so it kind of defeats the purpose in getting any filter media when you can't properly cycle a tank that's under 5 gallons anyways.
